Curiosity Saved the Cat - New Moon in Gemini

Back in December 2025, I shared a post about the Full Moon in Gemini as an invitation to ask better questions because the quality of our questions determines the quality of the information we receive. I encouraged people to investigate something they genuinely wanted to understand, to pay attention to contradiction and synchronicity, and to follow the threads that kept appearing even when they didn't seem particularly important.

Now, I’m asking - six months later:

  • Did you follow the lead?

  • Did you ask the question?

  • Did you investigate the thing that kept pulling at your attention?

Because, if you did, I'd be willing to bet that your life looks/feels at least a little different than it did back then.

One of the strangest things about adulthood is realizing that the interests that shape our lives rarely announce themselves as such. They show up as interest in a subject you can't stop researching, or a conversation that lingers in your mind long after it's over; maybe a skill you start developing without a clear plan for where it might lead (passion project), or a question that keeps resurfacing despite your efforts to move on to something more practical.

Most people ignore these things. They assume that if something is truly significant, it will arrive with certainty, but the nature of curiosity is that it rarely offers any of those things.

It simply asks for your attention.

Curiosity is often the first sign that something is trying to enter your life. Long before a career change becomes a career change, it is an article you bookmark. Long before a business exists, it is a problem you can't stop thinking about needing a solution to. Long before a meaningful relationship develops, it is a conversation with someone about something that feels different from all the others.

The New Moon in Gemini happening on June 12 highlights this. It suggests that something small may matter more than it appears to, whether that’s a question, an introduction, a class, a passing comment, a recommendation from a friend, or a casual interest, each of these things could end up having consequences that are difficult to recognize in the moment.

Gemini has always understood that life changes through accumulation: one tiny piece of information leads to another, one discussion opens a door to the next; a seemingly unrelated event suddenly becomes the missing link that makes everything else make sense. Knowledge is cumulative, collected over time in bits and pieces so many little easter eggs of insight.

And with Uranus now in Gemini, there is an added emphasis on surprise, disruption, and unexpected connections around these insights. Many of the opportunities emerging under the current cycle are unlikely to arrive in familiar packaging, and as such, they may not resemble the plans you've made for yourself or fit neatly within your existing identity. They may originate from the very thing you've been treating as a distraction.

Which brings me back to the question I asked earlier:

  • What are you repeatedly drawn toward?

  • What are you curious about despite having no obvious reason to be?

  • What topic, industry, skill, problem, or possibility continues to occupy space in your mind?

The New Moon in Gemini suggests that the next chapter may begin there. Life, as we know, repeats itself, and often has a funny way of rewarding the people who pay attention to what genuinely interests them. The challenge is that most of us are taught to only trust certainty and overlook our curiosity, but curiosity is where the bloom often occurs.

This week’s lunation asks whether we've gotten those priorities backwards.

where to pay attention

For this new moon, the house Gemini occupies offers clues about where that story is unfolding.

Aries Rising - 3H: communication, learning, local environment: The thing you're tempted to dismiss may be a conversation, writing project, certification, podcast, newsletter, teaching opportunity, or skill you're developing. Don't underestimate the value of becoming known for what you know.

Taurus Rising - 2H: money, resources, skills: A skill, talent, or area of expertise you've been developing informally could become a source of income. Pay attention to what people consistently ask you for help with.

Gemini Rising - 1H: identity, visibility, self-direction: You may be outgrowing a version of yourself. The thing worth exploring could be less about what you're doing and more about who you're becoming.

Cancer Rising - 12H: private work, healing, behind-the-scenes development: Not everything needs to be public. The most important development may be happening in private through research, reflection, healing work, or preparation.

Leo Rising - 11H: community, networks, audiences: A friendship, community, online audience, or professional network may contain an opportunity you've overlooked. Pay attention to who keeps inviting you into the room.

Virgo Rising - 10H: career, reputation, public life: The thing you're treating as a side interest may have professional implications. A curiosity could become a credential, a project, or a new direction altogether.

Libra Rising - 9H: education, publishing, travel, expertise: You may find yourself drawn toward a subject that expands your worldview. Teaching, writing, certification programs, travel, or specialized study could play a larger role than expected.

Scorpio Rising - 8H: shared resources, trust, investment: A question involving money, debt, inheritance, collaboration, psychology, or intimacy deserves closer attention. Dig beneath the surface.

Sagittarius Rising - 7H: relationships, clients, partnerships: The opportunity may arrive through another person. A client, collaborator, mentor, business partner, or significant relationship could become the catalyst.

Capricorn Rising - 6H: work, systems, daily practice: Don't overlook the small improvements. A workflow, routine, tool, process, or skill could create disproportionate results over time.

Aquarius Rising - 5H: creativity, pleasure, self-expression: The thing you're embarrassed to care about might simply be the thing you enjoy. Creative projects, hobbies, content creation, romance, and self-expression deserve your attention.

Pisces Rising - 4H: home, family, foundations: A conversation about home, family, living arrangements, property, ancestry, or your long-term foundation may lead somewhere meaningful.
