What to Expect From a Year Ahead Reading

Thinking about booking a Year Ahead reading? Here's what you should know before we get together.

What exactly is a Year Ahead reading?

A Year Ahead reading is a 60-minute session where we examine the major astrological influences shaping your next twelve months. We'll look at the areas of your life likely to see the most activity, significant periods of change or opportunity, and timing that may be useful when making decisions.

My approach to astrology is very practical. I'm interested in what might actually happen in your life, when it might happen, and how you can best utilize that information.

What's the actual experience like?

We'll meet over a video call for about an hour. I'll come prepared, having reviewed your birth chart and the relevant astrological timing for the year ahead and walk you through what I'm seeing. I’ll explain why certain periods stand out, and discuss how those influences might manifest in your everyday life.

You can ask questions throughout the session. I want you to understand what we're discussing and feel comfortable participating in the conversation.

Do I need to know anything about astrology?

Absolutely not. You don't need to know your rising sign, understand houses, or have any familiarity with planetary transits.

I'll explain what you need to know in plain language. If something requires a little astrological context, I'll provide it.

How specific will the predictions be?

Sometimes very specific. We may identify periods when a job change, relocation, financial development, family matter, or significant personal decision becomes more likely.

Other times, the astrology points toward a broader set of circumstances or developments that could take several forms.

I'll distinguish between what looks particularly significant, what seems possible, and where there's room for multiple outcomes. Astrology involves interpretation, and I take that responsibility seriously.

Will you tell me everything that's going to happen?

No astrologer can reliably account for every event in someone's life, and I won't pretend otherwise.

What we can do is identify meaningful patterns, periods of increased activity, and circumstances that deserve your attention. Think of the reading as a way to become familiar with the conditions you may be navigating over the coming year.

What if you tell me something I don't want to hear?

It's possible we'll discuss a period that looks demanding, uncomfortable, or complicated. I don't deliberately avoid difficult indications in a chart, and I don't sensationalize them either.

We'll talk about what the astrology suggests, how it might show up, and what practical considerations may be useful.

I also won't make definitive predictions about death, serious illness, or other matters where doing so would be irresponsible.

Is it normal to feel overwhelmed by the information?

Yes. In fact, I'd encourage you to expect it. We're covering an entire year of your life in approximately 60 minutes. That's a substantial amount of information, including dates, possible developments, themes, and details you may not have considered before.

Some things will immediately resonate. Others may require time to process.

You don't need to remember everything, understand every implication, or figure out what to do with all of it during our conversation. Give yourself permission to absorb what you can and revisit the rest later.

What if something you say doesn't make sense to me?

That's normal, too.

We're discussing events and circumstances that may still be months away. You might not have the context to understand a particular prediction when you first hear it.

A reference to changes at work might seem unlikely when you're perfectly happy with your job. A financial development might seem irrelevant when nothing unusual is happening with your money.

Sometimes the significance of a prediction becomes clearer as the year unfolds. Sometimes a prediction simply doesn't materialize as anticipated.

You don't need to force a connection or make something fit. Take note of what we discuss and allow events to provide additional context.

Should I make major decisions based on my reading?

I recommend treating astrology as one source of information when evaluating your options.

Knowing that a particular period may be favorable for career movement, for example, could help you think about when to pursue opportunities. It doesn't mean you should resign from your job without considering your finances, responsibilities, and circumstances.

The goal is to give you more context for your decisions.

Can I ask about something specific?

Of course. If you have an important question about your career, finances, home, family, creative work, or another area of your life, you're welcome to bring it to the session.

I'll also be looking at the year as a whole, so we may discuss developments that weren't initially on your radar.

If there's a subject you especially want to cover, feel free to mention it when booking.

What happens after the reading?

You'll have quite a bit to reflect on. I recommend revisiting your reading periodically throughout the year, especially as the dates and periods we discussed approach.

You may discover that something which seemed relatively unimportant during our session becomes much more relevant six months later.

That's one of the reasons I think a Year Ahead reading is worth returning to. Its usefulness can extend well beyond the hour we spend together.

One last thing: Do I need to prepare for anything?

Come with an open mind, a few questions if you have them, and a willingness to hear about possibilities you may not have considered.

You don't need to prepare an elaborate list of questions or know exactly what you want to get out of the session. I'll have done the preparation necessary to guide our conversation.

The most useful thing you can do is approach the reading with curiosity and give yourself time afterward to process what we've discussed.
